Vanessa & Dorm’s Magical Peterson House Wedding

There’s nothing more beautiful than celebrating love and enjoying it! And I, as an NSW wedding photographer, enjoy capturing moments filled with laughter and happiness. When it comes to Vanessa & Dorm’s Magical Peterson House wedding, I would say that it was mind-blowing and embodied all the joy! You cannot see such unique and extraordinary energy in celebrations nowadays, so I am glad they invited me to be part of their once in a lifetime day!

Eye-catching vineyard wedding venue – Hunter Valley Wineries

This Hunter Valley Winery showcases a fantastic cellar door that leads you to over 40 sparkling wines; a Restaurant Cuvee, a terrific wine club, a stunning new Chapel and a vineyard wedding marquee, suitable for all kinds of dreamy celebrations. The place is fabulous, offering various options for the onsite winery, wedding ceremonies and receptions. You can rest assured that your needs will be completely fulfilled and satisfied. With all my experience as an NSW wedding photographer, I can safely say that it’s one of the best NSW wedding venues that provide a warm and sensitive approach to any event!

Vanessa & Dorm Fell in Love With the Variety of Food and Wine

The main reason for choosing the Peterson House wedding venue was the food and wine. And of course, the beautiful place provided an opportunity for a reception and ceremony in one place was critical for their decision. Vanessa & Dorm wanted their big day to take place where they could feel comfortable surrounded by the people they love and have the most amazing photographs I did my best to offer. And it happened. The Peterson House wedding venue provided scenery to remember! Although it had been raining a lot during the week and on the morning of their wedding, I managed to take the most beautiful portraits around the vineyard. The grounds were very soft and mushy!

The terracotta and blush hint of the rose gold palette was the central theme that perfectly corresponded to the whole winery wedding aesthetic. It was just perfect for capturing all those colours and making outstanding photographs.

The Getting Ready Vibes

Vanessa & Dorm got ready at Cypress lakes resort in Pokolbin. They had separate three-bedroom villas right next to each other. The only thing Vanessa was concerned about was Dorm being able to see the dress, so she decided to swap villas with some additional guests at their wedding. The villa was smaller with two bedrooms, and 5 mins walk away. Somehow, I convinced Vanessa and the bride’s maids to do the photoshoot back in the previous villa to get a perfect final result. Glad that everything unfolded ideally!

Greenery Scenery Mixed with Terracotta Vibes

From the beginning until the very end, everything was just perfect! Vanessa wore the most classy and elegant dress I have ever seen. She combined it with a white pearl bracelet and those ideal white silk shoes that perfectly suited her whole bridal look. And the bridesmaids? Ah, their rust-coloured dresses were just a final touch needed. As I already mentioned, the entire wedding theme had a tone of terracotta and a blush hint of rose gold combined with the vineyard’s colours. The floral decor during the ceremony and reception embodied that perfect palette for a relaxed and romantic vibe.

A heartwarming ceremony followed by an intimate session with an epic twist!

The winery wedding ceremony was in the Peterson House chapel, where they exchanged vows surrounded by their favourite people! After saying the iconic I DOs, they took the time to have their congratulations in order. We headed around the estate to capture their portraits and some fun group photos.

Vanessa wore white silk heels that cost the same as her wedding dress! So, imagine how worried she was about damaging them while we were taking portrait photos around the muddy vineyard. So I intuitively improvised with what I had in my SUV – I had a clear poncho that I tore into pieces and wrapped her feet and fixed with electrical tape (no worries, besides being a Sydney wedding photographer, I am also a licensed electrician).

Finally, the photos turned out great in the end, and they all felt comfortable while the photoshoot; that made me emotional and, as always, reminded me how I love doing this! Imagine all those mixed feelings and emotions! Ten years later, they met each other and said, “I do”. Dorm proposed to Vanessa at the Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens, the Blue Mountains, on 8.8.2020. I am still excited about how their sweet love story unfolded – but more excited to have had the pleasure to capture it!

Unforgettable celebration and ending the night with fireworks & dancing under the full moon!

The vineyard wedding reception was at the Peterson House but in a stunning Marquee setting. I can still smell the tasty food out there! It was the best. The flower decoration at the Peterson House wedding reception was simply outstanding. The colours, the atmosphere, and happy moments were a match for capturing.

As a surprise, there were fireworks that Dorm had no idea about. He loves fireworks, and I am glad I captured the precise moment he was surprised to see them. I set my video light up to take photos of Vanessa & Dorm with the fireworks behind them with my old film camera. Their guests were also able to get fantastic footage with their camera phones. They were happy and excited by this opportunity. The video light was perfect for lighting up everyone in front of the AMOR golden letters sign they had set up outside the marquee. There was also a big red button to push with a countdown, and the flower girl got so excited she pressed it before the countdown was over.

And guess what? It was a full moon, so I took some epic photos of Vanessa and Dorm embracing and slow dancing with the moon rising between them. Surreal and romantic!
