Part of the bliss of my job is being lucky enough to discover and visit so many beautiful and one-of-a-kind venues in NSW. Every time I feel like I’ve added yet another gem to the list of places, but this one is absolutely extraordinary. The Tumbling Waters Retreat Wedding Venue feels like an oasis with lush forest surroundings and horizons over the coastal beauty like no other. It has an elegant contemporary space for weddings, a relaxing stay that can also be a romantic getaway, and spots for dining on the edge for those newlywed mornings!

An Autumn Tumbling Waters Retreat Wedding
As Brooke and Jamie adore the great outdoors and nature, they dreamed about a gorgeous garden venue with spectacular views, so they chose the Tumbling Waters Retreat Wedding Venue. They wanted to make sure the venue represented their passion for natural beauty and offered an amazing guest experience. Besides, no one can resist its unique juxtaposition that frames the photos with breathtaking horizons.
Even though they hoped for a beautiful sunny day, they actually ended up getting a spellbinding rainy/misty day which in their words, really made the view that much more incredible! As their Sydney wedding photographer, I saw this as an opportunity to later capture ethereal romantic photos of this wonderful couple and create precious wedding day moments. The love and care between them and their friends and families elevated the whole ambience, so despite the less popular weather, they didn’t let it dampen their spirits.
The day started with the sweetest getting ready session as their little son was part of the bridal party. They had a beautiful space to comfortably prepare and share some lovely moments. As the bride’s favourite colour is blue, she chose navy blue for her bridesmaids’ dresses and let them decide on their own style. Brooke had her Hair & Makeup done by Melissa and then put on a Two Birds Bridal dress with Billini shoes completed with the art of Evans and sons jewellers.
Everything just perfectly complimented her style and complexion. Jamie looked sharp in his grey suit which matched the navy blue palette. When it comes to preparations, here’s a pro tip – having a proper place to get ready before the ceremony actually means a lot and will help your day run seamlessly and stress-free. Plus, I get to take photos of these joyful and happy memories to complete your love story! One of the most emotional moments that I captured of this part of their wedding day was the father-daughter first look in the mirror. Brooke’s dad was so proud and overwhelmed to see his little girl getting married – that being one of his dreams come true.
Tumbling Waters Retreat Wedding Wet Weather Option
Because it was raining, their ceremony was held indoors. Even though it was misty, the high windows provided an incredible backdrop as they said their iconic ‘I do’. With an emotional and heartfelt ceremony, their love was eternalized by the celebrant – Samantha Lysaught. The decor was kept to a minimum, with a minimalistic aesthetic highlighted by the dark and moody accent of the venue and weather. That gave that effortlessly elegant vibe that was infused with the warmth and love of this intimate celebration.
After they tied the knot, I enjoyed capturing their wedding party and family photos but afterwards, we went for intimate portraiture in the gardens. To say that it was legendary and epic, would be an understatement. The mist enveloped the scenery as they revelled in the newlywed feel, creating a surreal atmosphere that looked breathtaking and romantic for their Illawarra wedding photos.
Their reception channelled the same minimalistic elegant aesthetic because Brooke and Jamie didn’t want to take away from the venue’s original splendour. The florals were the main decoration and thanks to the talented Blush and blooms floral studio, the white and navy blue flowers were just the ideal touch to the ambience and Brooke’s wedding bouquet. They brought a sense of subtle freshness to their reception.
When it comes to this celebration, the love and care from all of their family and friends were truly heartfelt. Being their Sydney wedding photographer, I loved capturing all those happy and emotional tears during the speeches. It is precisely that which makes intimate weddings ever so special and memorable – sharing the most important chapter with all those people who are part of your lives. Everyone was just so proud of how far this gorgeous couple has come together and wholeheartedly expressed their joy in their speeches.
The reception was filled with amazing food, priceless moments and dancing to celebrate the love of these romantic souls! Another special part that embellished Brooke’s memory was her first dance with her husband, looking into his eyes and savouring the moment as they had never danced before together. She also chose a special song for her dad and shared an emotional father-daughter dance, melting the hearts of everyone. Everyone was enjoying Brooke and Jamie’s Tumbling Waters Retreat wedding that proved to be the perfect haven, celebrating the beginning of this new chapter of their lives.
